LET THEM SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES……PART 3 OF 8: A RED ACTION ENTRY

June 1, 2010

This is a glob of oil on wetland reeds. They act as filters for the surrounding environment/wildlife habitat. Located just off the Gulf of Mexico is the beach of Southwest Pass, Louisiana. This photo shows only the beginning of the horrors to follow what is fast becoming the worst oil disaster in US history.

May 22, 2010 this photo was taken just off the Louisiana coast. This island is where many birds such as terns, gulls and spoonbills nest. There are hundreds of roosting brown pelicans also this time of year.

These  photos also speak of a future lost because the bird’s nest and eggs have been contaminated with oil. Their future……doomed …. don’t even stand a chance….even if they do hatch they will be deformed due to the toxins from the oil that will leach through the shells and into the embryos…….and this IS nesting season…..hundreds of pelicans can be seen flying over the nesting areas………and my tears for them will mark the spot until our paths cross again……. Lila

PLEASE CALL, WRITE OR E-MAIL YOUR STATE AND FEDERAL REPRESENTATIVES AND TELL THEM HOW THIS MAKES YOU FEEL AND DEMAND THAT THEY STOP THE MADNESS! SURELY IT IS MADNESS TO BUILD AND DRILL AN OIL WELL THAT YOU DON’T KNOW HOW TO FIX WHEN IT HAS A BLOWOUT!
